Harmonisation of Edition 2 EN 60825-1 extended in Europe
In Europe, IEC 60825-1 is published as (identical) EN 60825-1. Edition 2 is listed as harmonised standard under the low voltage directive (LVD) 2014/35/EU. In Edition 3 (EN 60825-1:2014), the “date of withdrawal” DOW of Edition 2 is given as June 19th 2017. Following a request by CENELEC TC 76, the representatives of the National Committees (BT) recently decided (BT156/DG10561/DC) that the DOW is to be changed to June 19th 2019. CENELEC was asked to issue a corrigendum for Edition 3 with the new DOW. Also, the next list of harmonised standards for the LVD will list this date in the line of Edition 3 for the column „date of cessation of presumption of conformity of superseded standard“. In the current list of harmonised standards, (2014/35/EU -OJ C 249 of 08/07/2016), no date is given. We also have confirmation from the European Commission office responsible for the LVD that the list of harmonised standards for the old LVD (where the date of June 19th 2017 was given) is not relevant.
