Ophthalmoscopes (ISO 15004-2)

Ophthalmoscopes have to comply with the requirements of ISO 15004-2 with regard to the emitted optical radiation in order to guarantee the eye-safety of the patient. We test ophthalmic instruments concerning optical radiation with regard to meeting the required standard and divide these into groups – according to the possible hazards. Due to the dilated pupil as well as the possibly reduced eye-movements, there are other limits pertaining to ophthalmoscopes that deviate from the limits of IEC 62471.
