Solar simulators

Testing solar simulators

Solar simulators are sources of artificial UV-radiation that are used in the cosmetics industry e.g. for the determination of the sunscreen protection factors. These UV-sources have to comply with the regulations of COLIPA (the governing body of the European cosmetics industry) concerning the emitted spectrum and have to be checked in regular intervals by external competent measurement service providers. The spectroradiometric measurements that are necessary for this purpose require considerable metrological know-how.

The expertise of our accredited test house for the testing of solar simulators has been approved by COLIPA (see abstract “Guidelines for monitoring UV sources, COLIPA 01/2007).
